North Carolina Tuition Assistance program

The North Carolina Tuition Assistance Program (NC TAP) is a reimbursement program for actively drilling Army & Air Guard members of North Carolina. Program funds can be applied to community college or technical, trade, or vocational training, proprietary, State educational institutions; two-year associate, four-year baccalaureate, graduate degree, or graduate certificate programs.

HOW IT WORKS

Here's a quick summary of the NC TAP program:

  • Amount: NC TAP is a 100% tuition reimbursement program for a degree or certificate at an approved institution or training provider.

  • What Schools Qualify: Funds can be used for reimbursement of tuition at colleges, universities, and trade schools, including FlightGest Academy.

  • What Can Funds be used for?: Funds can only be applied to tuition and fees.

  • Who funds NC TAP?:  The program is funded by the State of North Carolina.

  • Is there a service obligation?: You must remain in the National Guard for at least 2 years after the end date of your last funded class or training.

Program Eligibility

Service members must meet these requirements:

  • Active drilling members of the NC Army & Air Guard

  • Must have a minimum obligation of two years remaining from the time of the application; or extend membership for an additional two years or more from the time of the application.

  • Must be in good standing with your unit. You CANNOT be flagged for any reason.

The Process:

  • Start by coordinating with the Education Services Office.

  • After deciding on a degree or certificate program and an institution or training provider, coordinate with their admissions office to complete your NC Tap application.
